Snowy Sunday

Hi everyone. Another busy day today. Here in Massachusetts we got our first snow storm of the year. Depending on where you were in the state some of us got a few inches and others got a few feet.

We ended up being in the part of the state that only got a few inches. The few inches we did get however were very heavy and wet causing a lot of power outages for a good portion of our neighboring towns. We luckily kept our power and got to break into our pellet stash a little early this year with our first fire of the season.

We still ended up having enough for the kids to build a snowman

And of course there was the hot chocolate to warm up when they came back in

Since the gym had no power today my workout consisted of an hour of shoveling, cleaning the downstairs for about an hour, 2 miles of incline walking on the treadmill and 30 mins of level 2 six week six pack from Jillian Michaels. I forgot how challenging her workouts were and while I missed the me time feeling I get when I'm at the gym it was nice to mix it up for a change.

Tonight we had my inlaws over for dinner. I had made a big stew and since they didn't have heat or power we gave them a couple hours to warm up and a nice meal. Because of the power outages all the kids schools have already cancelled so should be an interesting day tomorrow trying to get anything accomplished on the job hunting front.

Well for those who are still without power and reading this on a phone, I hope you get things restored soon. Have a good night.

Another busy Saturday

Hi everyone finally got a chance to sit down and blog as the weekend of Halloween festivities has begun. Yesterday we headed up to Concord NH with Jake's Dad and his family to trick or treat in downtown. The picture above while a little blurry was the best attempt at getting them all to pose. It was a cold night but the kids were too excited to really notice

After we were done I headed with the kiddos to a restaurant for a quick bite to eat. Its amazing how fast you get moved up the waiting list when you are one adult with 4 kiddos on a sugar high. When we got home everyone was pretty wiped . This morning I got a run in early as I knew that a snow storm was coming and it would probably be my last chance at an outdoor run for a couple days. I got a good cold 5 miles in. Its nice how much faster you can run in the cold, although I am still battling a head cold so I paced myself. After my run I coached two very cold soccer games and then headed to finish my errands with Tim and Connor in tow.

On the job front I finally heard that I didnt get the job. I kind of suspected that since they checked my references two weeks ago but was still hoping as I am really anxious to be amongst the working again. I do have some more interviews lined up for this week so that definitely helps to keep my spirits up.

Well thats the update for now. I'm watching the snowfall and enjoying a little bit of quiet while everyone is in the back around the fire. I will post some snow pics tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good night.

Still Waiting

Its starting to feel like I'm in the movie groundhogs day lately. Still have not got a firm yes or no on the opportunity I had been looking at so starting in the meantime I'm starting to explore other opportunities. In the meantime I spent most of the day hanging with this guy

Now this isnt that bad of a gig but since he's one of four and we have lots of expenses I am anxious to get started on my new opportuntiy whatever it turns out to be. In the meantime I am staying consistent on the exercise front. Today was three miles on the treadmill some eliptical and rowing.

So that's the latest update. Time to get the kiddos ready for bed. Goodnight.

Pumpkin Party

Another Sunday is already here. I started the day with a nice outdoor run. I got 7.26 miles in. The air was nice and cool perfect running day. After that I headed home to get ready to go to my sisters house for a pumpkin carving party

The kids all had a great time including my 5th child/husband

I had made some of the food we had during the potluck so I chose to hang out with my neice Kayla for a bit

Since the kids were occupied with the pumpkins, Connor took advantage of being able to play with toys without anyone trying to take them he spent just about the whole time with this train set.

Tomorrow its back to networking, still waiting to hear on that opportunity. They said they would be making a deicison this week so we'll see. In the meantime I have a couple other networking calls planned so it should be a busy start to the week. Time to go make lunches and get things ready for the normal Monday madness. Hope everyone has a great night.

The power of a pair of shoes

Yes I took a picture of my sneakers, why you ask? Because these shoes have been instrumental in getting me through the last couple weeks. I woke up late today, and knew I wouldnt have enough time to workout and get back to get the kids off to school so I decided to go a little later in the morning.
I got in 3.5 miles on the treadmill, 10 minutes of reverse eliptical and 20 mins of weights.

I wish that you could bottle the feeling that you have post workout. You feel strong, alive, like you can take any challenge on. This is why I am in the gym or run everyday well that and the ability to eat and still fit in my clothes :-)

Tomorrow I will more than likely get back to the early routine, as I have a few calls planned while the kids are at school. On that note I'm headed to bed hope everyone has a good night.

Still waiting

Hey everyone, sorry the posting has been a little sporadic but things are still in a holding pattern so not much new to report on the job front. As far as fitness goes I am happy to report that I am keeping up with the gym. Today was 10.5 miles on the expresso bike. I had planned to do a 20 min strength session but I had to hurry home to make sure the kiddos were ready for picture day

Once the kiddos were off to school Connor and I headed for breakfast at the diner. Connor then went over my mom's for a playdate with his cousin so I got some errands done. So overall the day was pretty typical. Tomorrow I had hoped to get a run outside but we will see what the weather brings.

In the meantime I'm going to go cuddle with this guy

He always makes me feel better. Hope everyone has a good night

New week

Sorry for the couple days of MIA but after sitting in front of the computer most of the week networking and researching potential new jobs I just needed to unplug for a couple days.

Yesterday was Soccer Saturday. I started the day with 8 miles on the expresso bike at the gym then headed home to get the kiddos ready for soccer.

My under 8 team won 3-2 and my under 6 team did great as well. Of course the most exciting part for them is the oranges I bring for them for after the game.

After the games we headed home for lunch and waited for hubby to get home so we could run out and get some errands done.

We picked out Halloween costumes. Grace had her heart set on Tinkerbell and I must admit she picked out a good one

Tim picked out a transformer costume

Connor ended up with Batman although he was not happy to put it on or have a picture taken so I will try again when its not so close to bedtime. We offered for Jake to get a costume but he said he wanted to get one with his dad so we ended up getting him a game card for a game that he plays online.

After the mall we headed over to get Chinese food . It was delicious but of course today I feel like I ate way too much sodium so hoping to sweat some of that out a little later this morning with a run.

So since its a start of a new week I am going to try to get back on track with everything. I have been exercising every day but not with the same intensity as some days I am really optomistic that things are going to turn out fine, and other days its a little bit harder.

Friday I was hoping to hear good news about an opportunity, but hit what I think might be a little road block but its still to be seen. Applying for new opportunties is a lot like when you first date. You have a great first meeting, make the best first impression you can, and then hope its enough to get you a second date. During the time you are waiting to hear back you go through a mix of emotions one day wondering if you are good enough and then next knowing your good enough and saying to yourself if they don't like me someone else will. It definitely can wear on you but I'm trying to have the confident voice in me speak the loudest.

I continue to get a ton of support from former colleagues and friends and I can't express how much that has helped. At this point while I wait to hear I am going to continue to investigate other opportunities as at this point that is really all I can do.

From a well being perspective I am going to get a little stricter with the diet so I dont fall into my emotional eating habits of the past. I am going to refocus on my fitness, and I am going to definitely focus on taking advantage of this time between opportunities to make sure that I spend as much time as I can with the kiddos.

On that note I am going to make a pot of coffee and get ready to head out for my run before everyone gets up for the day. I will update my fitness goals later on today. Hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Lazy Thursday

Today was a lazy day. Well not entirely I did get 4 miles in on the treadmill and some rowing but other than that it was more networking and a nap in the afternoon.

The weather didnt help our motivation and it was nice to have some time with just Conor while Grace and Tim were in school.

Still in a holding pattern on the job front. I know that some of my references were contacted so I'm hoping thats a good sign.
Time to go watch the rest of Greys with Mr. Connor and then head to bed for an early gym session. Hope everyone has a good night

Plugging along

Hey everyone, short post tonight as Connor is way overtired. Had a good day today started the day with a 7.5 mile ride on the bike and another mile incline walking. After the gym Connor and I headed to the diner to meet up with everyone for breakfast

After the diner we walked around the mall a little and I got a replacement pair of headphones since the left side of my old ones shorted out and I've been using the annoying earbuds from hell in the meantime.

The rest of the day was the usual, picked the kids up worked on homework and had a few really good networking calls. It continues to amaze me how great my network of family and friends have been with the job change situation, they have made this process so much easier.

Well that's it for tonight I hope to get a run in tomorrow but we will see what the weather brings. Hope everyone has a good night.

Beach Day Recap

Morning everyone, I had intended to post when we got home last night but I was totally wiped out from a real fun day with the kids. I will post later tonight too but as promised here is the recap from yesterday.

I started the day with a nice 11 mile ride on the expresso bike at the gym. In the morning I had a few calls with former colleagues to discuss the job hunt and then it was time to get outside with the kids and enjoy the day. Since we had been at the closest beach to us Hampton last weekend for the race, I decided to head up to York Beach in ME instead.

The weather was perfect for a beach day

We started our adventure with a picnic on the beach, as you can see Connor wasn't waiting for the picture to be taken he wanted to eat stat

After we ate we started in on building some sandcastles

Next was testing the water to see if it was bearable to be in. Since it is October I didn't expect the water to be warm enough for the kids to go in, but to our surprise it was so with no change of clothes or towels we went home a little soggy but they had a blast

After I finally got Connor to agree to come out of the water we put the beach stuff away and spent a little time in the park they had there. This part of the trip was a little nerve wracking for me because of course each of the kids wants to go in a different direction and Connor my little daredevil is always attracted to the biggest thing there

The day was a great success. Of course coming home took forever because everyone was coming home from the long weekend

But we all slept great last night. The beach really is one of my favorite places, and I am happy that I was able to spend such a fun day with the kids.

Well time to get Connor over to my Mom's. Planning on some more networking this morning, and a run to finish up my workout before I have to get the kids at school. Hope everyone has a great day.

Summer in October

Hey everyone another busy day with the family so just getting to post. I woke up today a little bummed because I was supposed to be heading down to a sales kickoff meeting in Florida, but turns out I have a little bit of Florida here as the weather was unseasonably warm today.

I started the day with running to the gym, lifting for 20 minutes and then running home. I covered 5.5 miles and my knee felt good during and after so I think cross training most of last week helped with my recovery.

When I got home I worked on meatballs for dinner, made lunch for the kiddos and then took a little snooze on the couch with Connor while the rest of the kids and hubby were outside getting the pool closed for the season.

After that we headed down to the Carlisle State Park for a nature walk with the kiddos

Tim and Grace brought bags to collect leaves for school

We got to see someone riding their horse

Climbed a fence and some rocks

and got to see a lot of pretty nature

Grace and Tim found some dandelions towards the end of the walk and were making some wishes. Hopefully one of them was wishing me luck with a job Im waiting to hear on ;-)

Towards the end Connor got a ride from daddy to the car

Tomorrow I will be home with the kiddos since hubby has to work and they have no school. I have one phone interview planned in the morning but other than that I plan on getting them outside to enjoy the nice weather. Exercise wise I plan on hitting the gym for some expresso bike time and maybe a little eliptcal but I'll see what I have for time. Well Mr. Connor is looking for me to go cuddle on the couch so hope everyone has a good night and I hope all my former colleagues have a safe and fun trip.

Talk to you tomorrow.
