The last day of 2011

Good morning everyone. Once again I fell asleep in front of the cozy fire last night so didn't get a chance to blog. To recap yesterday, the day started out a little lazy and gloomy for me . I overslept and knew I wouldn't get what I consider a good workout in so I was considering skipping it entirely.

My mom however was gracious enough to take the kids a few hours so I headed up to the location my gym has in Nashua for a late morning workout. I put in 4.15 miles on the treadmill, 15 mins eliptical, and 20 mins weights/abs.

When I got out of the gym I had a voicemail waiting for me. It's not official yet, but the message said I should expect a job offer early next week at one of the opportunities I was still in contention for. I will share more details once everything is official, but this is definitely helping me to have a much more positive outlook on 2012.

The rest of yesterday was pretty uneventful. Last night we had popcorn and movie night and I shared one of my favorite classics with the kiddos Grease. They love anything musical so this actually kept their attention. Of course they were more excited about the popcorn.

This popcorn maker has been the best investment. I think we bought it two years ago and the kids still run out in the kitchen to watch it every time we make popcorn. I also picked up some cute little popcorn containers in the target $1 bin so they all get their own little bucket of popcorn which cuts down on the fighting.

This morning I slept in a little so after I'm done blogging I'm heading to the gym. I anticipate it will probably be busy because its shortened hours, its crappy weather, and the resolutioners are probably getting an early start. Since trash/recycling day was delayed due to the holiday I got a good warmup in putting everything out. Typically we have the city appointed bucket and two or three recycle bins. Look at what hosting two parties gets you

At least most of it was recycling. Well I better get going to the gym before I lose my motivation entirely. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy start to the new year and see you all next year!

Working on a gameplan

Since this week has been pretty quiet on the job hunting front due to the holiday, yet I am still all consumed with how we are going to make the finance stuff work in the interim I thought it would be a good day to try to work on a game plan.

I started with clearing my head with my usual good sweat fest at the gym. This is the one thing that is in my control so I am making sure to stay consistent with it. Today so far mileage wise I got 1.15 in on the treadmill, 20 minutes of stairclimber, and 10 minutes of rowing. I plan on getting another couple miles in after dinner if the kids cooperate. When I got home I got everyone breakfast and then started with the phone calls and paperwork.

Since I had hoped to be working again by now, we were using some retirement money to help supplement my unemployment insurance. However now that I am entering month 4 of no job, I need to start reaching out to see what resources are available to us.

In addition to applying to full time jobs, I have been also applying for part time ones but this time of the year a part time job is easier said than done.

Today I focused on investigating additional assistance from the state since I have three small children in the home. Now we are certainly not starving by any means, and may not be eating as fancy of meals but feeding a family of 6 even essentials combined with the reduction of money coming in is definitely a strain.

I doubt that we are going to qualify since it seems they base your need on just mortgage, house insurance, and utilities including cell phone. If that's the case we have enough to cover those. What is doesn't seem to consider however is credit cards, a car payment, car insurance, and of course food, unexpected copays for doctors etc. When you also take into account that we are still catching up from when hubby was out you can see the source of my anxiety.

Just like my weight loss journey though, I know this will be a process and there is no quick fix. In addition to filling out the assistance paperwork, I started to call our creditors to see if there were programs available to help.

I started with the mortgage company. I know there are programs for the unemployed, so I started looking into that and will be getting paperwork to fill out. Toyota is letting us extend our loan a couple months to free up the payment money to put towards something else. I was able to defer my student loan ( yes I am still paying them after 12 years) which frees up another $93. I will continue with some calls tomorrow but I am just about computered out for the day.

On the job front I hope to start interviewing again next week when people are back from the holidays. I applied to five more jobs this week and I did get some promising news from one of the opportunities I went on before Christmas, so I am feeling a little better that I will be back among the working soon.

So that's been my day today. Since hubby will be home in a couple hours I need to run to the store for some dinner supplies. I hope everyone has a good rest of the day/night until tomorrow :-)

Newport Recap

Hey everyone, Happy Thursday, I almost said Wednesday as this week is going by pretty quickly. Since I didn't get a chance to post yesterday I thought I would start with a Wednesday recap post and then I will post a second one for today.

The morning as usual started with a good cardio session at the gym. 2.63 miles on the treadmill, 20 mins eliptical intervals, and 20 mins of weights and rowing. When I got home I took a phone interview on another potential opportunity, fed the kids lunch, and because hubby was off for the day we headed down to Newport.

I really enjoy our trips down to my brother and sister in law's house there. They are very laid back and always make you feel like your at home. On the way down we got our vital supplies. A trip to starbucks( a rare treat as of late) means treats for the kids too.

We arrived about 90 minutes later and was extra excited because my niece, nephew, and their daughter were up visiting from NY. It feels so weird to call them that since I'm only a couple years older :-)

Anyway the kids had a blast and we got to enjoy a couple drinks and some nice conversation, it was a nice break for me since I'm still recooping from the weekend festivities.

We got back home to MA about 9:30pm and I quickly fell asleep with Connor on the couch and slept right through until the gym alarm. We had a great visit and will look forward to visiting again soon.

Tired Tuesday

Hey everyone, happy Tuesday. Today was pretty uneventful. I think the work of the weekend caught up with me as I spent most of the day hanging out with the kids and basically not doing a whole lot of anything.

I did start the day with a good cardio session at the gym. 20 mins stairclimber and 6.5 miles on the bike. When I got home I got my husband off to work, got the kids breakfast and then we cuddled and watched tv on the couch for the majority of the morning. While I felt a little guilty that I wasn't cleaning or doing something productive, it definitely helped me to recharge my batteries.

In the meantime the kids had fun playing/trying on their Christmas presents. The ones pictured below were extra special because their big brother Jake gave up some of his gift cards to buy his siblings something for Christmas. I thought this gesture was especially sweet.

Christmas day turned out to be a great success. The kids loved all their presents and even though in my mind I was worried they were going to be disappointed since there were no big presents, Tim actually said "this was the best Christmas ever" which was the best present I could ever ask for :-)

He did also get a big smile on his face when he noticed my husband and I didn't get gifts since we focused on the kids. He said well you and daddy must have been bad and we were good that's why we got presents. The stuff this kid comes out with is too funny.

Tomorrow I hope to make it a little more productive of a day. I have my first interview call of the week and hope to hear follow up on my two open cycles, and line up a few more interviews for after the new year. I'm really trying not to dwell on the financial pressure and enjoy what's left of the year, but I really hope something happens soon so that I can get my anxiety levels back in check.

Well time to head to bed. Early gym session hope to get some rowing in tomorrow since I missed out on that this morning. Hope everyone has a good night.

Merry Christmas

Well since I fell asleep after our Christmas eve party, its technically Christmas. So let me start by wishing everyone a great holiday. Now for the recap of Christmas eve.
The day started early for me around 3. I had fallen asleep after Friday's blog so I was up prepping for the first of the two parties I'm hosting. My sis came over around 7 and we got almost 6 chilly miles in.

When I got back it was more prep throughout the day to get ready for the party. The first party we hosted tonight was my Mom's side of the family. Since I can remember we have had this potluck party where everyone brings a dish and we all get to see each other and have a fun time. Now that the cousins myself included have kids and the party size has grown we try to gravitate towards a house that can withstand the craziness.

Lucky for us, our house is old and pretty well designed for hosting parties like this. The party was a great success.

The kids all had a blast

I got to see my brother who we only see once or twice a year because he is always so busy with work

and I even got a nice shot of hubby and I

When everyone left I took a little snooze on the couch for a couple hours then helped Santa make his delivery. Santa went a little crazy with stocking stuffers which led to them not fitting in the stockings. Good thing I came across some red tissue paper when cleaning for the party

Well I should go finish cleaning up because I will have these little faces waking me up in a couple hours if not sooner

If I am still awake later tonight I will post a recap of party two. Hope everyone has a great day with their families and friends.

Christmas Eve Eve... the party prep continues

Happy Friday everyone. Today was a busy day and I'm debating if I should stay up a couple more hours or get to bed and then do some work before my planned run in the morning with my sis. While I decide I thought I would blog a little. Today was a pretty good day. Started the day with a good cardio session at the gym. 20 mins stairclimber 1.3 miles on the treadmill, and 10 minutes of rowing. I also pushed Connor around the mall for another hour so I'm counting that as part of my cardio for the day.

After the gym Connor and I headed up to Jake's school to meet about setting up a possible IEP. It seems from an academic perspective he is actually holding his own against his peers so we are going to see how things progress. After the meeting Connor and I headed to the mall to get a couple last stocking stuffers and then hit the grocery and liquor store on the way home to get the rest of the party supplies.

This afternoon was the start of the baking. We got the chicken marinating for quesadillas, one of the veggie trays and dip made, the macaroni salad, and most of the cookies. I had some good helpers.

So far we have finished

Sugar Cookies

Peanut Butter Kisses

and Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

I will admit I sampled one of each. Grace also helped with the taste testing

Jake went to a hockey game tonight with my dad, and then he is heading back to his dad's for Christmas eve so we wont have him with us until Christmas day.

Where was Connor with all this fun going on you ask? He spent most of the day lying around like this

I think he might have an ear infection as he is being very lethargic and his ear as you can see in this photo is red and is warm to the touch. I put a call into the pediatrician so hopefully he can be seen and if necessary start on meds tomorrow so he feels good on Christmas day.

Well I think I might try to push through one more hour of work before I call it a night, so I should wrap this up before I lose my motivation entirely. Hope everyone is having a good start to the holiday weekend.

Confusing and Frustrating kind of day

Let me preface this post by warning that I need to vent a little. This week has been another long one with lots of interviews, and frankly I'm a little exhausted.

Today actually started with an interview instead of my normal workout routine. Despite the change I was looking forward to this interview and with the traffic being light due to the holiday I actually got down there with plenty of time to spare.

I met with four people and was there a total of three hours. All of the meetings seemed to go well and I left actually feeling upbeat and confident.

After the interview I headed to the gym and got 2 miles in on the treadmill 20 mins on the eliptical and a little bit of weights. After the gym I got the kids and headed home. Since Connor had fell asleep I decided to join him in a little nap.

When I woke up I had a voicemail that they had "passed" on me. Now this
is not my first rejection and I am still in the running for some other
great opportunities, but this particular response left me confused
and frustrated. I really thought the meeting had gone well and expected to move on in the process.

To add to the aggravation, when I responded to the recruiter that presented me I got a response insinuating that I wasn't the "A player" this company was looking for. Now this feedback especially pissed me off. This guy hasn't met me in person, and has had one brief conversation with
me. If this is how he is treating the clients he is looking to source he
could definitely use some work on his relationship building skills.I know that I have a lot to offer a potential employer and I am certainly not
going to let some clown derail me or make me doubt myself.

This did however leave me wanting to break into some of the party wine that I am chilling for this weekend.

I decided however that a better outlet would be to hop on the treadmill
at home for another couple miles.

I got another two miles in, and the endorphins definitely helped me feel a
little better about things. Hubby brought home some chinese food tonight for dinner so that gave me a break from cooking which is good because the
baking/cooking prep will be in full effect tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning I have a meeting up in NH for Jake's school so I am hoping
to get an early gym session in and then head up for that. So that's the update for today. I am going to get a good night's sleep and then put the
job hunting stress on hold for a couple days so I can make sure the kids
and hubby have a great holiday weekend. Hope everyone has a great night and
I'll be back with hopefully a more upbeat post tomorrow.

Party Prep day 2

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today started with another good cardio session at the gym. 20 minutes on the stairclimber, 10 mins rowing, and 1.3 miles on the treadmill.

After the gym Connor and I headed to meet my mom, aunt, and nieces for breakfast at the diner since we had some errands in the area. After breakfast I took my niece with Connor and I to the mall for a couple hours.

Kayla thinks its super cool to ride in the van and since I'm used to having at least a couple kids with me at all time it was no big deal. We got a few more stocking stuffers and some cards. We also ran into Santa who gave them both a high five when he walked by.

After the mall we headed over to the honey baked ham store.

I got a nice half ham which will be part of my buffet for our second party on Christmas day. These hams are so expensive but so worth it. Based on my ebay sales this week we had enough to cover the ham and some left over for a latte for me :-)

So next up for party planning is to go through my ingredient list so that I make sure I have everything for when I start on the baking/cooking on Friday.

After picking up the ham, we dropped my niece off picked up Grace and Tim at school and headed home. It was a cold rainy afternoon so while I probably should have been starting on cleaning,I opted instead to take
a nice nap in front of the fire.

Dinner tonight was hubby's favorite, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. Since I find that meal a little heavy I got another mile in on the treadmill after dinner.

Tomorrow I have my third interview of the week. Another good opportunity that would leverage my healthcare background so we'll see how things go. I am still hopeful that I will be working again by January and start the new year off right so send some good interview vibes my way.

Well since tomorrow's interview is an early one I should get ready for bed. Hope everyone has a good night I'll be back with a recap tomorrow .

More interviewing and the start of party prep

Hi everyone another busy day is just about done. Today started with a good cardio session at the gym. 8 miles on the bike and 2 miles treadmill. I had planned on getting a couple more this evening but hubby needed to catch up on his rest so I took over cleanup and bedtime duty.

After the gym I headed home and started on mount laundry. I got about 4 loads done but considering that we create a load just showering I have about 10-12 to go not including the clothes we got dirty today. Lugging that stuff up from the basement definitely counts as some additional cardio too. I also finally got the upstairs bathroom cleaned. I don't use this one as frequently as everyone else but since I clean the downstairs one twice as much it was time.

Later in the morning I had my second interview of the week. Another good opportunity that would definitely let me leverage my skills and experience and would be a nice transition resume wise so we'll see. I was supposed to have a follow up interview with another opportunity tomorrow, but it got postponed so I plan on continuing with the cleaning and planning for the two parties we have upcoming this weekend.

After the interview I got the wholesale club run done with. We are now prepped with our sterno pans, fuel, plates, cutlery, and liquor. Tomorrow I will be picking up the honey baked ham (yum) and maybe a few last little stocking stuffers. The rest of the food shopping will probably get done Friday morning as I am not going anywhere near the supermarket on Saturday if I can help it.

When we got home from the errands and I got everything put away I felt a lot like this

I managed to sneak in an hour nap before getting up to make dinner. Tonight we had a yummy stirfry followed by a chocolate cupcake for dessert.

Well if I am going to get up in time for the gym tomorrow I should probably be heading to bed. Hope everyone has a good night.

Math Test Monday

Happy Monday everyone. Today seemed to go by quickly. I started the day with a good cardio session at the gym. 30 minutes of stairclimber and 1.3 miles on the treadmill. I didn't get to the gym as early as I would have liked so I made this the first half of my workout with the plan to add on a couple miles at home later on.

When I got home from the gym I got the kids out the door for school and then worked on a beef stew for the crockpot. I love our crockpot because it helps me to stay on track with meal planning and its also nice to have dinner ready for you when you come home.

After prepping the stew, I got a quick shower in, dropped off Connor and headed down for the testing I was mentioning yesterday. They gave you about 90 questions with a lot of word questions mixed in, but only gave you 16 minutes to do as many as you could. I definitely didnt finish. I would say I probably got maybe 60% of them done. I had assumed that we would be able to use a calculator too, but we were not so that also slowed me down. The second part of the test was more of a personality profiling test. I have taken ones similar to this before. I was there for close to two hours so hopefully I did well.

Tomorrow I am having my first in person interview for another opportunity. Interviewing is a lot like prospecting. You are trying to get yourself in front of as many opportunities as possible and then once you get interest create the best presentation you can.

Besides interviews I am also busy getting Christmas stuff in order. We are having people over Christmas eve and Christmas day so the next couple days will also include cleaning, and foodshopping, baking, and lots of last minute touches.

The stew turned out yummy and was a nice way to warm up for the chilly weather today. After dinner I got another 2.05 miles in on the treadmill.
Tomorrow I am planning on a few more miles as well as some time on the bike so we will see how early I can get to the gym.

Well time to help get the kids to bed. Hope everyone had a good start to the week. Goodnight.

Sister Sunday

Happy Sunday. Today was a chilly one, and the most time I spent outdoors was on my morning run with my sister Amy. She came over to my house today so we did my 5 mile normal river loop. Compared to the hills at her house and the hills I ran with my friend Lynn a few weeks ago, this felt nice and flat which was nice. I also like getting outdoor mileage in because you go a lot further than when you force yourself to get mileage in on the treadmill. The one downfall of running outside though is literally freezing your butt off. Luckily we have a nice pellet stove in our back living room and I parked myself on the couch closest to it for a couple hours when we were done :-)

After my long winter's nap I made the kids lunch and then practiced some math for a test I need to take tomorrow. One of my job opportunities is having me in to take a math and personality profile test. Since I'm an English major math tests always have made me nervous. I looked at the practice test online and got just about all of the questions right so I should be fine, its just giving yourself the refresher on things like algebra with the please pardon my dear aunt sally acronym for dealing with parenthesis and exponents and all that fun stuff.

After my cram session I worked on some ebay lots. Since we are bringing in substantially less income than when I was working, and all the part time jobs seem to be taken, this is a way that I can bring in a little extra income. I certainly am not getting rich by any means by an extra 20 to 30 dollars while cleaning up some of the things the kids have outgrown seem like a win/win to me. Today I worked on some of Grace's stuff. I typically will make a few piles. One is an ebay pile, I give my sis some stuff for my neices, and I also give some to the goodwill. I was able to make a couple nice size 4 lots

Next up is getting the kiddos to bed, then its the Next Iron Chef Finale. I will let you know how the test goes tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good night.

Sleepy Saturday

Last night hubby and I shared a bottle of wine with dinner, well I probably had a little more than my half but after a week of interviews it was just what the doctor ordered. As a result I slept in this morning until about 8 which if you know me is like sleeping until 12. Since I am usually back from the gym by that time I made the kids breakfast before heading for my workout.

Today I did 10 miles on the bike 1.4 miles on the treadmill and 20 mins of weights. After the gym we had a quick lunch and then headed to a local park for the kids to get some fresh air. On the way we stopped and got a latte and some snacks for the kiddos. My oldest got a hot chocolate. When he finished he threw the cup away at the park. There must have been some left because a squirrel actually took the cup out of the trash and enjoyed a little starbucks treat too.

This squirrel was a big hit with the kids. Tim said he wanted me to take a picture so he can print it out to show his teachers at school :-)
After our adventures with Mr. squirrel we headed home and I made a nice ham dinner followed by some tollhouse cookies. In order to not have guilt in eating a couple I got in a little more treadmill time bringing my total mileage for the day to three miles.

Tomorrow will be an outdoor mileage day. I really should try to get outside during the week, however with interviewing and it being dark when I have my time to exercise it makes it challenging. My sis will be over in the early am so I plan on us running my normal 5 mile loop around my neighborhood. Since she will be here in about 8 hrs I should probably head to bed. Hope everyone has a good night.

Interviews and Christmas Cards

Hey everyone, yes I'm still alive I had planned to blog the past two nights but instead fell asleep with my kids when putting them to bed. A friend said that interviewing is a lot like being set up on blind dates. The more I think about it the more I agree. You go in thinking it went well, and then get told that "you're good but there are better candidates or you just don't get a response at all." This week however, has seemed to bring some optimism. I in person interviewed with two opportunities this week, one of which looks very promising. I also had first round calls with two others which are both leading to in person interviews next week. The pickup in activity and the positive response I have had thus far is making me hopeful that I may still have a chance at getting back to work for the new year.

In the meantime I have been staying consistent with my exercise. I will update my fitness log tracker on the side but today was 3.3 miles on the treadmill, 20 minutes of stair climber and some weights. I had hoped to get to the gym a little earlier but started getting other projects like laundry, and bill paying done while I was up early waiting for the gym to open. I did brave the mall with the kids this afternoon too so I'm counting that as additional cardio as pushing the double stroller and keeping track of three of the four is definitely a workout itself.

Since this year is tight for us money wise we couldn't order the cute photo cards like the last couple years, but I did get some cute and inexpensive ones that we could send out so I finally got the majority of them in the mail today. I still have a few to write out but I am starting to feel more in the Christmas spirit.

Next week I have interviews Monday-Thursday and then it will be starting to bake and get everything ready for the parties that we are hosting Christmas eve and Christmas day. I will try to keep things updated here as its nice to see that I am starting to get a few additional readers. Well time to go put the lasagna in the oven and have a nice glass of wine . Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Job Hunting in the City

Happy Tuesday, well technically Wednesday but I haven't gone to bed yet so I'm still calling it Tuesday. Today started with a workout at home. Similar to tonight I stayed up way too late and had a morning interview in Boston today so I started the day with three miles on the treadmill and a little bit of weights.

After my workout I got ready for my interview, dropped off Connor and headed down to Boston. Now the past 4 years I have had the luxury of living about 4 miles from work. This role I was interviewing for today, would start off the first couple months in Boston and then my office would move to Billerica which is similar to my old commute. I knew traffic would be brutal as it seems it is whatever day it is so I headed down for my 10:00 interview around 8:30. Driving into the city normally fills me with tons of anixety as its so easy to get lost in Boston and one wrong turn can really throw you off, but happily this interview was pretty easy to get to and it very close to another opportunity I am interviewing for on Thursday so it was a trial drive in for that one at the same time.

The interview seemed to go well. I was supposed to meet with two managers but one of them was not available. The manager I met with seemed nice and we had a good conversation. I used to have a good sense of when things went well in an interview but now its a lot of thinking you did well and then getting the feedback that people have more experience, etc etc so I do my best, send my thank you notes expressing continued interest in the roles and hope for the best. I must say having now got a couple rejections I am getting a little discouraged, but I know my next opportunity is out there its just a matter of finding it. As a treat to myself I stopped at Starbucks on the way home for a peppermint mocha, I was a gingerbread latte girl for a long time but I must say the peppermint mocha is my new fav. It takes just like those thin mint girl scout cookies, very yummy.

When I got home, I worked on some Christmas cards, and a little ebay stuff and got another 1.15 miles in on the treadmill. Tomorrow, well later today at this point, I have another in person interview, and a phone interview so if I'm going to get my exercise in prior I should probably head to bed. Hope everyone has a good day I'll be back later with a recap.

A busy week of interviews ahead

Happy Monday everyone, well technically its still Monday for a few more minutes anyway. Today was a pretty productive day. I started the morning with a good cardio session at the gym. I actually woke up very early like 3am too early to hit the gym that opens at 5 so I went back to sleep for a couple hours but then felt like I had to drag myself up when the alarm went off at 5. I hate when that happens but I dragged myself anyway. Once I was there and got going it turned into a decent session. Got 20 minutes on the stair climber and 7 miles on the bike.

When I got home I knew I wanted to get some administrative stuff done so I let Connor lounge around in his pj's for the morning. He kept himself busy when I was on the phone but must have eventually tired himself out because I went upstairs to check on him and found him all cozy and asleep on his big brother's bed.

I let him sleep until lunchtime and spoke with a few more recruiters. This week is lining up to be pretty active. I have an interview tomorrow in Boston, one on Wednesday in North Reading, and another one in Boston on Thursday. All of these opportunities sound interesting so hopefully the meetings will go well and ultimately lead to next steps and a job to start the new year.

In the meantime to deal with the financial stress I am continuing to apply to part time positions as well to see if I might be able to supplement things until I secure my new position. I am also auctioning a lot of the stuff that the kids outgrew but are in good condition. You certainly don't make a ton of money with this but an extra $30-50 here and there definitely helps.

Well I am hoping to still get my cardio in before my interview tomorrow so I should probably head to bed for a few hours. Hope everyone had a good start to the week and send me some good interview vibes. Goodnight!

Sunday Fun

Hi everyone. Today was another busy day. It started early this morning with an outdoor run with my sister. We got a somewhat hilly 4 miler in. Running outside after doing mostly treadmill mileage is a real reminder of how different the two are. While I'm off from work I should try to get more mileage outside but its so much easier to run in a temperature controlled gym than freeze my butt off outside.

After the run I headed home and did a little weights and half of a Jillian Michael's workout. I knew that I had my nieces party this afternoon and I didn't get a full nights sleep so I didn't push myself super hard today.

Next up after exercise was the party. My sister had it at a local sports center. The kids all had a great time, including my 5th kid/hubby :-)

I spent most of the time taking pics, and snuggling with my beautiful little niece

My other beautiful niece, the birthday girl seemed to have a great time at her party

After the party we headed home and I enjoyed a nice two hour nap in front of the fire while the kids played and hubby watched the Patriots game. After my nap I got up and made us a nice chicken parm dinner and enjoyed a captain and diet which definitely helped to take the edge off.

Hubby is upstairs getting the kids ready for bed so I should probably go help him out with that and start on lunches. Tomorrow is a cross train day although I might still get a couple treadmill miles mixed in as well as I am trying to keep my mileage to at least 20 miles a week while in maintenance mode. So on that note I am going to wrap this up. Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a nice start to the week, Goodnight.

How cute is this

Happy Saturday. Today was a pretty laid back day. Started the day with a good cardio session at the gym. 30 minutes on the stairclimber, 20 mins on the treadmill and a little weights. I was going to do a little more but I wore some of my older gym clothes that werent sweat wicking and because i sweat like a 500lb man, I looked like I um had an accident, so I thought it best to head home and change.

When I got home I made the fam some french toast and then worked on the meatballs for tonight's dinner. While I was cooking Tim decided to work on some arts and crafts. He made a reindeer at school the other day, so today he built on it adding some more reindeer and santa. I thought this was super impressive for a 5 year old of course maybe I'm biased ;-)

Its good that Tim is so excited about the holidays, his artwork is serving as some cute decorations for the house.

My sis and neices came over later in the day. It was nice to be able to vent to her about the job and financial stuff. We are planning on a run tomorrow morning so I will finally get some outdoor mileage in.

Tonight we had my brother in law over for dinner. The kids always have a good time with their uncle and by having an extra person to feed it helps us not totally overindulge in the extra food.

Next up is dessert strawberry cupcakes and then I am going to work on some more ebay stuff. Hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend.

Keeping Busy

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the lack of blogging this week, the past couple days I have been trying to work on some other projects and by the time the kids are in bed I'm asleep on the couch.

Today was another busy day. I started the day with a session as the gym. I got a couple miles in on the treadmill, some eliptical, and a little bit of weights. The past couple days were a lot more cardio intensive so I kept it a little lighter today since I knew I would be getting some cleaning done too.

After the gym I headed home for a follow up phone interview. Another interesting opportunity in a similar field to my last position so we'll see. This time of year is interesting because a lot of people are planning for the start of the new calendar year, but at the same time interviews and decisions are being delayed because of the holidays. I figure the best thing I can do at this point is to get in front of as many potential employers as I can so that has been my focus.

After my interview Connor and I headed to Kohls to get one more little thing for Grace. Connor is a typical guy who doesn't really like to shop

Shopping for the kids is officially done. I am glad that I started to get a little bit for each of them early while I was still working. None of them are getting big expensive things but I think they will be happy. The rest of our gift giving is going to focus more around food as I will be making cookies tins for our out of the house gifts, and we will be hosting two parties one on Christmas eve and Christmas day. The economic stress of not working is definitely getting a little consuming but I am trying to keep in the holiday spirit regardless as I think 2012 is going to be a much better year for us.

So on that note I'm going to get a couple more hours of sleep before I'm up for the gym. Got another couple phone interviews lined up for later today so hopefully that will translate into some in person ones next week. Hope everyone has a good Friday.

Start of another week

Hey everyone, Happy Monday. Today was another unusually warm day here in Massachusetts with highs in the 60's. While I am enjoying being able to cut down on heating costs it just seems weird to be so warm a couple weeks before Christmas.

Yesterday we met my parents for breakfast and then headed down to the train show in Marlboro. There are sure a lot of people interested in toy trains. The show was well organized although it proved to be stressful with lots of curious hands and even more expensive things to potentially break. We did manage to walk through without the kids destroying anything

After the show we headed home and pretty much relaxed the rest of the afternoon.

Today started with 6 miles on the bike and 1.7 miles on the treadmill. I will probably do a little more before bed to round it to 3. After the gym, I spent time applying to so more opportunities, and organizing ebay stuff in the attic. The plan was to clean after I picked up the kids at school but because it was so warm I took them over to the park to enjoy the nice weather.

After the park we headed home and I actually took a little nap on the couch and then made dinner. Next up is getting the kids to bed so I'm going to wrap this up. Hope everyone had a good start to the week. Goodnight.
